Wednesday, August 23
5:00 pm – 7:30 pm
924 Williamson St., Madison, WI 53703
Join Community Shares of Wisconsin for an event focused on local responses to white supremacist violence earlier this month in Charlottesville. The event is hosted as part of The Forward Festival and is sponsored by Dane County Credit Union.
**Note: In light of the white supremacist activities and subsequent violence in Charlottesville, we have shifted this event to focus instead on the ways different organizations and community members are responding and how people can engage with these efforts now and throughout the year.**
Community Shares of Wisconsin (CSW), a statewide nonprofit, advances the work of nearly 70 member organizations to build lasting change in Wisconsin. CSW and its members envision a future where we all have clean water and air, where all neighbors have access to family-supporting jobs, and all communities are safe, healthy, and thriving.
For 46 years, CSW has developed innovative approaches to build community around social justice and efforts to project the environment. This includes launching the Madison-area’s first online giving day, The Big Share, which this year raised a record $322,000 in 24 hours in a single day—largely through peer-to-peer engagement and social media.
Come and learn more about the local social justice movement and how it can intersect with technology, learn from local nonprofits about their work around racial justice, and understand ways you can get involved.
Event includes complimentary Forward Fest Ale & Kipp’s Cuisine Catering (supplies limited).
We hope to see you there!
Access to this event is included with the Forward Pass.
